How the guides work

These quick guides are designed to be as quick and simple as possible. If you follow the whole course you will have a working store. It is my way of setting up a Shopify store. Other people have different views on how to do it and what apps to use, but this is how I do it. I have built more Shopify stores than most people, for a variety of different authors, so it is possible to use this method and customise it to look how you want it to look.

Where possible, I have chosen free apps and workarounds. There are many more all-singing all-dancing apps which will give you greater functionality, and I’ll mention these in the PDFs. What I don’t want to do is get you set up with a load of apps that are brilliant for big stores with big budgets but will cost you a fortune every month. You can add these apps later as you see fit.

Once you know your way around Shopify and are confident setting up a basic store, then you can play around with it. My aim is to get you to the point where you are confident enough to do this.

There are a lot of things to set up. I’d love to be able to tell you how to set up your Shopify store in 5 simple steps, but there is a bit more to it than that! I have filmed every stage of the process of creating a store and broken it up into chunks so you can follow along.

Each guide is made up of short videos and (usually) accompanying PDFs. Personally, I like to use a mix of written material and video walkthroughs, so I have provided both. I recommend watching the video first, then use the PDF to refer back to.

This is a very straightforward course, with not much discussion of different options. I am simply showing you how I do it. There are other courses out there that go into detail on marketing, social media, and more in-depth on why you need to do things in a certain way. If that’s what you are after, please buy those instead. I have created this one to be the absolute basics you need.

I am not an ecommerce marketing expert or a mega-selling author myself (I wish). I have written my own book, which you’ll see me upload here, but what I do is build bookshops and that is what I am here to show you how to do. I will show you how to make a great looking, easy to use site which you can then customise to your heart’s content.
